The above client was housed by TFA when she was homeless. After TFA housed the client, we arranged for her to have her own apartment and then moved her things from storage into her new home. Additionally, TFA helped the above client change her name, and get a job.

The Transgender Foundation of America has been a vital part of my recent success. I remember the day I found out there was an organization for Transgender resources and support. I was in a difficult place in my life, but I decided to make a call and visit the Transgender Center. I was welcomed by people from various parts of the community with one common story, we are all transgender. This was a profound moment for me. I began volunteering and attending several meetings TFA offered. I can say, sitting in the support group meetings has had an enormous positive effect on my life. I have gained an insight of transgender life from the people before me. It’s a personal honor. The Friday socials are a big part of our community. This is an opportunity for many of us to enjoy ourselves without the fear of society’s judgments.

The most benefit I received from TFA was an opportunity to work at city hall and to receive housing assistance. TFA presented me with this life change. I am currently employed and I am living in my own apartment.

I will forever be grateful to the Transgender Foundation of America for changing the lives and establishing equality for all of us Transgender people.

This is a letter to thank and commend the TG Center of Houston in its efforts to assist the transgendered community on so many levels.

I am a transgendered lady who has lived full time in the gender I was intended to have for almost eleven years now. But due to a battle with cancer that is continuing since November 2005.

My birth family required me to relinquish my legal female credentials which resulted in difficulties securing stable employment.

So back in September 2009 the TG Center staff raised the funds to assist me to keep from becoming homeless and paid my living expenses for that entire month until I could make arrangements to provide for myself once again.

Then the following month through a referral from the TG Center I was able to secure safe/secure housing through a housing program offered by a local Houston Community services organization.

Now due to this referral I’m able to attend college again and rebuild a very promising future as the woman I was always meant to be, without the unnerving thoughts that tomorrow I may be without a safe place to live!

In summary I’ve personally witnessed the TG Center in its efforts to assist many of our community in too many ways to mention in this letter.

So … I’ll just say “many thanks” and keep up the good work!
